Officially in the Running: Commissioner Cirillo’s West New York Forward Team Submits Campaign Petitions for West New York’s May Municipal Election

Campaign Receives Strong Support from the Community

West New York, New Jersey – March 6, 2023 – On Monday, March 6, Commissioner Cosmo A. Cirillo Ph.D. filed petition signatures for the upcoming West New York May municipal elections with the Town Clerk’s Office. The West New York Forward team collected more than 12,000 petition signatures from community members of various demographics and socioeconomic levels, ensuring that every family member is counted for and represented fairly. The outpouring of support signified the community’s endorsement for Cosmo’s Team for a Better West New York. This submission officially puts Cirillo in the running as a candidate for mayor of West New York. Commissioner Cirillo is running alongside Commissioner Margarita Guzman, Assemblywoman Angelica M. Jimenez, and longtime residents Walter Lopez and Hiram Gonzalez for commissioner positions.

“My sincere gratitude goes out to my team, the campaign volunteers, and all of the community members who came out and signed petitions to make running for office possible,” said Commissioner Cirillo. “The overflow of support for our team shows unequivocally that our community is prepared for elected officials who will bring about genuine change in West New York.”

While knocking on doors Commissioner Cirillo has taken the time to discuss with residents several of the initiatives he will prioritize as mayor, such as building a new recreation center, improving parking around town, and revitalizing businesses along Bergenline Avenue.

“I’m truly humbled by the support and confidence bestowed upon me and my running mates, which is something that we take very seriously and will always keep in mind when bringing forward plans that will enrich all families living in West New York,” said Commissioner Cirillo. “Our promise is to improve the quality of life for our people while also pushing for a brighter future for West New York.”
