OnePaterson Launches New Website

PATERSON, N.J. – As an extension of its mission to enhance the quality of life for all who live, work and play in Paterson, OnePaterson has launched a new website that will serve as a platform for uplifting the historic city and sharing key developments in the area.

“Since its days as the dominant American silk producer in the second half of the 19th century, Paterson has evolved into a dynamic and diverse community,” says Bill Pascrell, III, President of OnePaterson. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to help preserve Paterson’s past, promote its present, and brighten its future.”

Alexander Hamilton helped found the Society for the Establishment of Useful Manufactures in 1791, which encouraged the harnessing of energy from the Great Falls of the Passaic River to secure economic independence from British manufacturers. This society went on to found Paterson, which became the cradle of the American industrial revolution. The city was named for William Paterson, signer of the Constitution and Governor of New Jersey, who signed the 1792 charter that established the Town of Paterson.

Now the third-largest city in New Jersey, Paterson is made up of over 50 distinct ethnic groups and is enlivened by a vital blend of ethnic shopping and dining that makes it a unique community and tourism destination.
