OPEIU Local 32, AFL-CIO Endorses Sue Altman in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District

(SOMERVILLE, NJ) – Today, the Office and Professional Employees Unions (OPEIU) Local 32, AFL-CIO announced their endorsement of Sue Altman in her race for New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, where she is in a statistically-tied race with incumbent Republican Congressman Tom Kean, Jr.

OPEIU represents over 4,000 workers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware – representing employees of local government agencies, colleges and universities, libraries, clinics and hospitals, nonprofits, and more.

Bill Henning, Business Manager OPEIU Local 32, AFL-CIO:

“The members of OPEIU are proud to stand with Sue Altman, a proven fighter for working people. She has steadfastly supported workers in our efforts to secure fair wages, stronger workplace protections, and the right to organize. Unlike her opponent, she will use her position as our next congresswoman to advocate for working families, and that’s exactly the kind of leadership we need in Washington. Without hesitation, we endorse Sue Altman in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.”

Sue Altman, Democratic Nominee for New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District:

“We are on the precipice of making Tom Kean, Jr. a one-term congressman because of a strong grassroots coalition anchored by working people and organized labor who know that NJ-07 deserves more from our leaders. As NJ-07’s next congresswoman, I will be an ironclad supporter of our workers and the unions who represent their interests in Washington, and I’m so grateful for the support of OPEIU in this fight.”
