Opportunity NJ Applauds Governor Christie and Legislative Leadership on Moving the Transportation Infrastructure Investment Legislation

Legislation will kick-start state infrastructure investment with over $400 million in ‘shovel ready’ projects

(Trenton, NJ) – “Opportunity NJ (ONJ) applauds the bipartisan effort and leadership of Governor Chris Christie, Senate President Steve Sweeney, Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto and members of the Legislature to pass into law new legislation that fast tracks more than $400 million spending on transportation projects over the next three months. This legislation, which dedicates $260 million to road and bridge projects and $140 million to NJ Transit for safety and technology upgrades, is a major win for New Jersey and is aligned with one of the primary pillars on which Opportunity NJ was founded.

One of Opportunity NJ’s pillars is infrastructure investment, which directly links to the foundation of our economy. The action taken by the Governor and the Legislature will jumpstart much-needed projects throughout all 21 counties. This will put people back to work, help our economy and assist in our path back to economic vitality.”
