Oroho: Jersey Shore and Campgrounds Go Hand in Hand in Summer, Gov
While welcoming news that Jersey Shore beaches will be open come Memorial Day weekend with appropriate social distancing measures in place, Senator Steve Oroho (R-24) called upon the governor to give his approval to opening recreational campgrounds as well.
“What beaches mean to Jersey Shore communities in summertime, campgrounds mean to the Skylands region during the summer season,” said Oroho. “The NJ Campground Owners Association has submitted a responsible plan to the governor’s office which incorporates safety protocols. Let’s give them the green light too!”
Recent news articles have reported New Jersey residents making plans to visit out-of-state campgrounds as the State continues to shutter ones in-state. Senator Oroho has been urging the governor’s Administration to open up the economy where businesses have formulated detailed plans for reopening while incorporating social distancing guidelines.
“Our regional and state economy will continue to lose critical revenue, especially from all the ancillary business, if seasonal campgrounds remain closed” cautioned Oroho. “Campground owners, knowing that their clientele want to feel safe, came up with responsible recreation plans that satisfy accepted health and safety practices. So let’s give the whole state a little boost for the holiday weekend.”
