O’Scanlon Responds to Gov. Murphy’s Press Conference on Budget & Tax Hikes

Senate Budget Committeemember Slams Gov & Invited Guests for Calling for Unnecessary Tax Increases

Following Governor Phil Murphy’s press conference on yesterday’s Legislative passage of the State budget, Senator Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth) slammed Governor Murphy for calling for unnecessary tax increases.

At the presser, the Governor reiterated his call for an income tax increase, and his invited guests also called for increases to the estate tax and the sales tax.

“Yesterday, the New Jersey Senate, including members of the Senate Republican Caucus, approved a State budget with no new broad-based tax increases, which was a very loud, unequivocal repudiation of Governor Murphy’s almost pathological obsession with inflicting new and increased taxes on the people of New Jersey.

“The overtaxed families of New Jersey have been pushed to the brink, and they deserve a break.

“It is appalling that Governor Murphy would stand silently by, as his guests speakers propose not one, not two, but three tax hikes on New Jersey families.

“Governor – The people of New Jersey do not want more taxes, nor do they need more taxes. Period. Full stop.”
