OSMOND TO DEPART REP. WATSON COLEMAN’S OFFICE FOR THE COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY
Alex Huang to become Chief of Staff
EWING – Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman today announced the imminent departure of long-time Chief of Staff Kari Osmond. Osmond will be succeeded in her position by current Deputy Chief of Staff Alex Huang. In the coming weeks, Osmond will begin working as The College of New Jersey’s new Associate Vice President for Government and Community Relations.
Osmond has worked with the Congresswoman for the last ten years, starting with her first congressional campaign in 2014. She helped set up Rep. Watson Coleman’s flagship office in 2015 and has served as her chief of staff since August of 2021. She has served as Rep. Watson Coleman’s lead advisor for all policy and political strategy while also overseeing all legislative, communications, and constituent services for the Congresswoman.
“Kari has been working with me since my first election to represent the 12th Congressional District a decade ago, but I have known her for longer than I even care to remember,” said Rep. Watson Coleman. “Her dedication and commitment to our office and the people in the four counties that we represent has never wavered and she will be greatly missed. Kari is not just a friend, she has also been a tremendous professional, a committed organizer and a determined leader who has always run towards the fight. I am looking forward to seeing the tremendous work Kari will accomplish with TCNJ.”
Osmond thanked Rep. Watson Coleman, stating, “It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman. She has taught me the importance of fighting for the betterment of your community. While it is bittersweet to leave the Congresswoman, whom I consider family, I have full confidence in Alex Huang stepping into this role.”
Alex Huang joined Rep. Watson Coleman’s staff in the Spring of 2021 as her Legislative Director before becoming Deputy Chief of Staff in the Congresswoman’s Washington, DC office later that year.
“We are also fortunate to have someone of Alex Huang’s caliber to take on the role of Chief of Staff,” said Watson Coleman. “Alex has been playing a key role already serving as our Deputy Chief of Staff and I anticipate a seamless transition as we continue to take on these critically important fights ahead. Every citizens’ rights and basic freedoms are under assault each day, and we must remain vigilant in their defense. Alex knows what this fight looks like and I know he is ready for the challenges ahead.”
“I am excited for the opportunity and am looking forward to continuing to do the work the people in the 12thCongressional District have come to expect from our office,” said Huang. “The constituent service work we do every day has never been more important and that will certainly continue to be the top priority even as our office works on the frontlines in the fight to protect our Democratic values. Kari has been a great friend and mentor and I know that I am well prepared to continue pushing the Congresswoman’s important work forward.”
