Pallone on Failure of Graham-Cassidy-Heller
Washington, D.C. – Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today after Senate Republican Leadership canceled plans to take up consideration of the latest version of Trumpcare:
“Since the very beginning, Trumpcare has been a heartless bill that only became more extreme over time. Thankfully the American people were never fooled by the damage that this bill would inflict on their lives. The Graham-Cassidy-Heller bill would have ripped health insurance away from millions of Americans, undermined key protections for people living with pre-existing conditions, and slashed critical funding for Medicaid. It was a cruel bill that should have never been seriously considered in the first place.
“I want to thank the millions of Americans who stood up and spoke out against this bill. Together we were able to protect access to quality, affordable health care for millions of Americans. I sincerely hope that my Republican colleagues are ready to abandon their reckless efforts to pass Trumpcare so that we can work together on bipartisan solutions to reduce costs and improve access to care for all Americans.”
