Pallotta Responds to Murphy Budget Address: No Light at the End of the Tunnel

RAMSEY, NJ –  Today, Businessman and Republican Congressional Candidate Frank Pallotta responded to Governor Murphy’s Budget Address for the 2021 Fiscal Year. This morning, Governor Phil Murphy and his cronies came together to announce the state’s budget for 2021.

Normally during a global pandemic in which so many have lost their jobs, and some have still not received an answer on when their first unemployment check will arrive, one would expect our elected officials to fight against tax increases and create relief for those who are struggling.

Not in Phil Murphy’s New Jersey!

In 2021, Murphy plans to increase spending by $1.4 billion over 2020. His new budget includes over $1 billion in revenue from increasing New Jersey’s taxes. Governor Murphy is once again targeting gun owners with a $6.3 million firearm tax hike. He plans to increase the “millionaires’ tax” by $390 million, which the middle class will naturally end up paying as more millionaires flee the state.

Most importantly, while restaurants remain closed for indoor dining, and gyms and movie theaters are unable to operate at all, Phil Murphy is replacing the federal small-business tax cut with a 5% surcharge. What kind of leader closes small businesses, and then asks them for more money?

There is no light at the end of the tunnel in Phil Murphy’s New Jersey, and the Democratic Party continues to support him. Thousands of small businesses in New Jersey’s 5th District were affected by the Democrats’ never-ending COVID-19 shutdown, and some continue to stay closed. Congressman Josh Gottheimer offers no help to anyone. Will we be hearing more from Josh now that Election Day is approaching? Will he finally denounce Phil Murphy and his money addiction?
