Pascrell Announces $157K to Support Teterboro Airport Amidst Pandemic
Federal award will go towards maintaining operations during COVID-19 pandemic
PATERSON, NJ – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today announced a $157,000 supplemental Airport Improvement Fund grant to Teterboro Airport. The funding was made available in the CARES “Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security“ Act, as part of a $10 Billion fund of which $160 Million of which will go to New Jersey airports, that Pascrell supported in the House of Representatives last month.
“The coronavirus pandemic and the changes to the way we travel have damaged our economy. This modest grant for Teterboro Airport can help the facility, its workforce, and associated businesses, maintain operations,” said Rep. Pascrell, who has pushed for more federal backing of New Jersey’s coronavirus response efforts. “Whether at home in quarantine, in the hospital with symptoms, or on the frontlines combatting this virus, the American people need Congress now more than ever. I supported the CARES Act because it would provide immediate relief and meet the vast needs across our economy in the face of this crisis and I am proud that we’ve secured an award through that legislation today.”
Even as he abides by social distancing guidelines, Rep. Pascrell has remained in constant contact with federal agencies to secure critical federal funding for New Jersey coronavirus response efforts. He recently announced $14.6M in emergency housing and urban development grants for local governments to ensure that our underserved neighbors needs are met during the pandemic.
