Pascrell Applauds Indictment of Steve Bannon

PATERSON, NJ – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today applauded the indictment of former top Donald Trump advisor Steve Bannon for obstructing Congress’s probe in the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

“This action by the grand jury is just and it is right,” said Rep. Pascrell. “The January 6 assault on the United States Capitol is one of the darkest days in American history. If we fail to hold its participants and inciters fully accountable, we will only invite more lawbreaking and push our nation further down the path of authoritarianism and fascism. Anyone who obstructs our probe into January 6 should have the entire book thrown at him. Period. I look forward to seeing Mr. Bannon found guilty. But it cannot end here. While Congress continues to pursue answers, the Justice Department must continue to meticulously pursue justice for the Trump regime’s crimes, up to and including prosecuting Donald Trump.”

Rep. Pascrell has been outspoken in demanding accountability for the Capitol terror riot and Republican attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. On December 11, 2020, Pascrell urged House leadership to “refuse to seat in the 117th Congress any Members-elect seeking to make Donald Trump an unelected dictator.” On November 17, 2020, Pascrell became the first member of Congress to demand Donald Trump’s criminal prosecution and has continued his demands for accountability.
