Pascrell Assails Barr Justice Department

PATERSON, NJ – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. today reacted negatively to reports that the U.S. Department of Justice is dropping its criminal case against disgraced former Donald Trump aide Michael Flynn on the eve of his sentencing.

“Michael Flynn is a convicted felon. Flynn confessed to his crimes. Flynn was on Vladimir Putin’s payroll. A federal judge said Flynn ‘sold out’ America and all but called him a traitor,” said Rep. Pascrell. “Today’s move is vastly more than a betrayal of U.S. law enforcement. William Barr has converted the Justice Department into Donald Trump’s personal law firm. For nearly a year I have called for Barr’s impeachment and disbarment. But even achieving that, the damage to our justice system is incalculable.

“Justice Stevens called public ‘confidence in the men and women who administer the judicial system…the true backbone of the rule of law.’ Americans’ trust in our laws is impossible when Donald Trump and his partners in crime are declared above all laws.”
