Pascrell Condemns Supreme Court Upholding Trump’s Muslim Ban

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today harshly criticized the Supreme Court’s 5-to-4 decision validating Donald Trump’s racist ban on Muslims from certain countries entering the United States.

“A Supreme Court seat stolen by Republicans is paying dividends in service to Trump’s hateful agenda. The Supreme Court decision to uphold the Muslim ban ignores the promise of religious liberty that remains a foundational element of our national identity. This morning, the five conservatives on the Supreme Court saw fit to reject the freedoms of Muslims trying to visit, work, or live in the United States. These families will now be barred from seeing family, seeking medical care, or pursuing an education here. This is a tragedy.

“The American people heard Donald Trump loud and clear when he called for a Muslim ban. He spoke in no uncertain terms. I know opponents of this shortsighted ban will be disappointed today and I share in their distress. However, I also know that those who showed up at airports and marched in the streets will continue to organize to eventually overturn this injustice. That is the spirit of America.”
