Pascrell Mourns Ed Cotton

PATERSON, NJ – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today mourned the passing of former Paterson Deputy Mayor, Paterson Housing Authority Director, and current Passaic Valley Water Commission member Ed Cotton.

“Ed Cotton was a jewel in Paterson’s crown,” said Rep. Pascrell, a former Paterson mayor. “I had the good fortune and the honor of working with Eddie. As my Deputy Mayor, he served diligently, he served loyally, he served the citizens of Paterson first. In all the positions he held in the city, and in the way he conducted his life, he was a man of no-nonsense and the highest character. Eddie was also something of a renaissance man. He loved boxing and as a professional referee was involved in some big bouts. He was my good friend. Elsie and I and our family send our sincerest condolences to the lovely Ruby and the entire Cotton family. When this crisis is over, we’re going to make sure Eddie is properly honored with a Paterson sendoff. May he rest in peace. Eddie made Paterson better.”
