Pascrell Nominates Romney, Jones for Profile in Courage Awards

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today nominated U.S. Senators Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Doug Jones (D-AL) for the Profile in Courage Award bestowed by the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston, Massachusetts.

“The most devastating lesson imparted over these last few years remains that the courage to stand alone against calamity is an impulse tragically absent in so many of our countryman,” Rep. Pascrell wrote in nominating materials to the JFK Presidential Library. “That dereliction will be the burden of our generation. The votes of Senator Romney and Senator Jones on February 5, 2020 demonstrated that we need not await the verdict of history to know that the embers of bravery are animate among us. Facing enormous backlash in their home states and incalculable costs both professional and personal, their votes to remove the chief executive from office exemplify the spirit and letter embodied by your great distinction. I proudly nominate Senator Mitt Romney of Utah and Senator Doug Jones of Alabama for the Profile in Courage Award.”
