Pascrell Praises Biden Nominations to Postal Board of Governors

White House signals urgency to fix USPS, but more work remains

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today celebrated the nominations by President Joe Biden of three new nominees to the United States Postal Service (USPS) Board of Governors to fill existing vacancies. On January 25, 2021, Pascrell became the first member of Congress calling on President Biden to fire the entire Postal Board of Governors.

“Our entire country is fed up with the dysfunction and failure of USPS leadership. Something needs to change, and that change can begin with this announcement,” said Rep. Pascrell, a leading congressional champion of USPS. “I am gratified that we have a President in office who gets what is at stake in saving our Post Office and is acting with urgency. This is an impressive group of diverse nominees selected by President Biden who will be well-suited to the work of saving our Post Office.

“This is a important step, and I hope only the beginning. I continue to urge the President to remove all the sitting governors, who have been silent and complicit to the DeJoy sabotage. Once they are replaced, Louis DeJoy should be sent packing. In the meantime, Congress must roll up our sleeves and begin the hard work of reforming the Post Office so it can survive and thrive for the next 100 years.”

The three nominations announced by the White House today are former general counsel of the APWU and Fordham University alumnus, Anton Hajjar, vote at home advocate and former Denver elections director Amber McReynolds, and former USPS Deputy Postmaster Ron Stroman.
