Pascrell Praises Bus Terminal Hearing

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) lauded the first public hearings on the environmental review process for ultimately replacing the long-decrepit Port Authority Bus Terminal, which were held Wednesday evening in Tenafly, New Jersey, and in Midtown Manhattan.

“I welcome these public hearings with open arms,” said Rep. Pascrell. “The Port Authority Bus Terminal is a lifeblood artery for millions in New Jersey and across the region who aren’t the rich and powerful, but the middle and working class who need to take the bus to work and to travel to the Big Apple for a little entertainment. The crumbling Port Authority Bus Terminal is sadly a living relic of the all-too-often disregarded interests of the commuters who rely on it. I am hopeful today is an important step the culmination of a shining new terminal in New York that all my constituents can use with ease and pride. We’ve all waited long enough.”

A former longtime member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Rep. Pascrell has dedicated his career to strengthening infrastructure and expanding public transit options. He has been a consistently strong and active advocate for a new PABT. Pascrell is also a leader in the House for procuring federal funding to begin work on the Gateway Tunnel project.
