Pascrell Praises Murphy Leadership to Keep Open Testing Sites
PATERSON, NJ – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today praised New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy for his work to keep open two COVID-19 testing sites in New Jersey, located at Bergen Community College in Paramus and the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, that were slated to be closed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Following Governor Murphy’s intervention, FEMA will continue administering the testing sites through May.
“I want to personally thank Governor Phil Murphy for his leadership in keeping these testing sites open,” said Rep. Pascrell. “Our first responders, doctors, and nurses on the frontlines are making heroic efforts every day, as are our neighbors staying home. But their collective efforts will only succeed by not just maintaining but expanding our testing capacity. We owe the governor gratitude for his steady leadership. It is actively saving lives. The feds are right to reverse their ill-conceived plan to pull up stakes at test sites as our state maintains the second-worst infection rate in the nation and endures perhaps the worst crisis in our state’s history.”
Pascrell signed a letter to FEMA with the New Jersey delegation last week demanding that FEMA continue to operate and support both sites.
