PASSAIC COUNTY CENTRAL LABOR COUNCIL ENDORSES ANDRE SAYEGH FOR MAYOR OF PATERSON
(PATERSON, NJ – May 4, 2018)— The Passaic County Central Labor Council announced their support for Paterson Councilman Andre Sayegh to be Paterson’s next mayor.
One of 500 state and local labor councils of the AFL-CIO, the PCCLC is a democratically elected body that represents the interests of working people at the state and local level. In endorsing Sayegh, PCCLC President Juan Negron said the councilman’s proven efforts to improve the lives of Paterson’s working families aligns with the goals and mission of the PCCLC.
“We support candidates that understand worker’s rights and support working families. Andre Sayegh displays a genuine commitment to move Paterson forward and make all of its diverse communities better for the people who live and work there. That’s what we see Andre Sayegh doing in Paterson every day,” Negron said.
As a local AFL-CIO affiliate, the PCCLC is at the heart of the labor movement, mobilizing its members and community partners to advocate for social and economic justice, vanquish oppression, and improve their communities for all people, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or ethnic or national origin.
“The work of the Passaic County Labor Council has been an integral part of improving the lives of Paterson’s working families, and I am honored to have their support as we continue to make Paterson stronger,” Sayegh said. “The labor movement is an important part of Paterson’s history, and is crucial to our future. I look forward to working with the PCCLC to further our shared goals,” Sayegh said.
Paterson’s municipal elections are May 8. Voters will cast ballots for mayor, and for three at-large council seats.
Andre Sayegh has represented Paterson’s 6th Ward since he was first elected in 2008. He previously served on Paterson’s Board of Education from 2004-2008. For more information about Councilman Sayegh and his campaign, visit andresayegh.com.
