PASSAIC COUNTY CLERK DANIELLE IRELAND-IMHOF ANNOUNCES COVID-19 BRIEFING FOR
CERTAIN UPCOMING ELECTIONS

Paterson, NJ – Clerk Danielle Ireland-Imhof advises residents of the City of Passaic, the
Borough of Totowa and the City of Paterson important information regarding their
upcoming elections. Out of an abundance of caution, Governor Murphy recently signed
Executive Order No. 105 which mandates that certain upcoming elections be conducted
solely via vote-by-mail ballots. These are temporary changes which were instituted in
order to help further mitigate the spread of COVID-19 while also ensuring that voters
maintain their constitutional right to vote without worrying that they may risk their
health and safety during the public health crisis. Specific changes are as follows:

 City of Passaic School Board Election originally scheduled for April 21, 2020 will
now take place on May 12, 2020. Registered voters will automatically receive a
vote-by-mail ballot to the address linked to their voter registration record. There
will also be a prepaid postage return envelope to use when mailing back the
completed ballot. There will be no sample ballots sent and no voting on machines
at the polling locations.

 Borough of Totowa School Board Election originally scheduled for April 21, 2020
will now take place on May 12, 2020. Registered voters will automatically receive
a vote-by-mail ballot to the address linked to their voter registration record. There
will also be a prepaid postage return envelope to use when mailing back the
completed ballot. There will be no sample ballots sent and no voting on machines
at the polling locations.

 City of Paterson Municipal Election scheduled for May 12, 2020 remains on May
12, 2020. Registered voters will automatically receive a vote-by-mail ballot to the
address linked to their voter registration record. There will also be a prepaid
postage return envelope to use when mailing back the completed ballot. There will
be no sample ballots sent and no voting on machines at the polling locations.

The deadline for residents of Totowa, Passaic and Paterson to register to vote in the
above listed elections is Tuesday, April 21, 2020. For information on registering to vote,
please call the Office of the Passaic County Superintendent of Elections at
(973) 881-4515.

Governor Murphy’s Executive Order No. 105 also temporarily allows June 2, 2020
Primary Election candidates the option to submit their petitions electronically using an
online form created by the New Jersey Secretary of State. This is in an effort to limit
unnecessary person-to-person contact. The online petition form and its instructions
are available at: https://nj.gov/state/elections/candidate-information.shtml.

Petitions may also be submitted by fax to (973) 742-5744 or left in a sealed envelope in the dropoff box located in the lobby of Room 130 of 401 Grand Street, Paterson, New Jersey,
07505 Monday through Friday between 8:30AM and 4:30PM. The deadline for
June 2, 2020 primary election candidates to submit petitions remains March 30, 2020.
Governor Murphy did not make a decision to postpone the June Primary Election or
shift that election to Vote-by-Mail at this time.

Additional information as well as any updates or announcements will be posted at
