Paterson, NJ ~ The Passaic County Regular Republican Organization has selected Aisha Mamkej as its nominee for the office of County Surrogate in the 2021 election cycle. Mamkej was selected by unanimous vote of the Executive Committee at its meeting last night at the Brownstone in Paterson.

Mamkej has been a proud Passaic County resident for nearly fifty years, previously residing in Paterson and Hawthorne before settling in Haledon with her husband, Ayman. She has served her fellow residents as an employee of Passaic County for over 28 years, serving 6 years in the Board of Elections office before transferring to the Passaic County Clerk’s office in 1999, where she still works to this day as the Senior Election Clerk. She also serves as a member of the Passaic County Republican Committee representing Haledon since 2001.

“I am truly humbled and honored to have earned the support of the Passaic County Republican leadership team as the nominee for Surrogate this year,” said Mamkej. “I would like to thank Chairman Peter Murphy, Vice Chairwoman Joanie Walsh, Senator Kristin Corrado, my husband Ayman, and the entire board for their vote of confidence. I look forward to earning the support of my fellow Passaic County residents in the months to come.”

PCRRO Chairman Peter Murphy praised Mamkej in the following statement: “Aisha Mamkej is a stellar candidate for County Surrogate. She has nearly 30 years of experience serving Passaic County residents in official capacity day in and day out, always going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure their needs are met. Aisha has my unequivocal support and I look forward to working with her to restore integrity to the Surrogate’s office.”

Mamkej earned the endorsement of Senator Kristin M. Corrado (R-40), under whom she worked during Corrado’s nearly eight years as Passaic County Clerk. “I had the privilege of seeing Aisha in action every day in the Clerk’s office,” said Corrado. “Her commitment to assisting members of the public, professionalism, and attention to detail are all attributes that will serve her well as our Surrogate.”
