PASTORS, ELECTED OFFICIALS, SOCIAL JUSTICE ADVOCATES, ADDICTION PREVENTION LEADERS TO CALL ON GOVERNOR PHIL MURPHY TO DECRIMINALIZE POT RATHER THAN LEGALIZE

Leaders to Rally for Pardons of Those Convicted of Marijuana Crimes

 

WHAT: Newark/North Jersey Committee of Black Churchmen, Inc., President Bishop Dr. Jethro James, Sr., State Senator Ronald Rice, New Jersey Responsible Approaches to Marijuana Policy (NJ-RAMP) Executive Director Stephen Reid,Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM)‘s Will Jones, prominent activists in the New Jersey social justice movement, and hundreds of local advocates will gather to call on Governor Phil Murphy to provide all communities with long-sought social justice reforms, without advancing dangerous commercial marijuana sales.

 

States that have approved the commercial pot sales have seen significant health and public safety impacts, as well as targeting and victimization of minority communities. Leaders from the Newark community will press the Governor to pardon those convicted of marijuana crimes, instead of pursuing the legalization of today’s dangerous, high-potency marijuana.
