PATERSON MAYOR SAYEGH WILL ANNOUNCE INITIATIVE TO ASSIST IMMIGRANTS WITH EMPLOYMENT AND CITIZENSHIP
In celebration of the UN English Language Day, Mayor Andre Sayegh, in collaboration with UCEDA Institute, has chosen three city residents to receive the UCEDA Mayoral Scholarship. The recipients: Jose Liriano, Maria Dominguez, and Gabriel Matos have faced challenges since immigrating to the US. They have struggled to find jobs or pass the citizenship exam as the English language has remained an obstacle. The courses offered by UCEDA institute will help them to move past these impediments and accomplish their goals.
The scholarship will cover 16 weeks of tuition-free study in one of three courses of the recipient’s choice – English as a second language, Citizenship Test Preparation, or GED Preparation for Spanish Speakers.
