Patient Safety advocates to rally at Statehouse on March 7

On March 7th Patient Safety advocates from around the state will hold a rally and press conference at the Statehouse Annex at 9:30 am.  This rally is to demand safe staffing legislation for hospitals and nursing home facilities.  For 17 years legislators have failed to pass legislation while New Jersey patients have suffered.  Nurses from around the state have shared their stories of unsafe situations based on chronic understaffing, including the unsafe staffing in areas that care for mothers with maternal complications.

In addition to hearing from nurses, Jim Keady will address the issue of wage theft which is also an issue for healthcare workers.  Nurses are subject to wage theft due to unsafe staffing on a regular basis
