Payne, Jr. Statement on Congressional Baseball Practice Shooting

What happened today was absolutely despicable. My thoughts are with my colleagues, including Rep. Scalise, their families, staff, and the U.S. Capitol Police, whose heroism deserves our unending gratitude. Today the Capitol Police showed why they are the best at what they do. I am grateful for them today and every day. I wish all those injured a swift and full recovery.
