Perth Amboy Civic Trust to Hold Climate Change Hearing

The Perth Amboy Civic Trust today announced that it is holding a Climate Change hearing on adaption to heat waves, heavy rainfall, haze and other negative impacts of global warming.  This first in a series of 3 planned hearings will take place on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Middlesex College, Perth Amboy Center, 60 Washington Street, Room 226.

The hearing will include the Perth Amboy Civic Trust’s partner, The Urban Coast Institute of Monmouth University.  The audience will be given the opportunity to present their ideas as well as ask questions of experts.  Attendees will be asked to prioritize a series of adaptation measures as part of a community wide survey.

“This year is on track to be the hottest year on record and the 10 warmest years on record have all occurred in the last decade,” said hearing organizer and Perth Amboy Civic Trustee, Cesar Romero. “These hearings will enable us to come together and build a comprehensive plan that will enable our City and its residents to reduce the negative impacts of climate change.”

The Perth Amboy Civic Trust is comprised of about 24 residents–Civic Trustees— who come together in monthly No-Blame problem-solving sessions, searching the nation to identify successful solutions to improve Perth Amboy. Trustees commit to at least one year of service and pledge to work to “leave their city and country better than they found them.”
