Phil Warren Stepping Down as Municipal Chair of the Evesham Township Democratic Committee to Work on Presidential Campaign
(Evesham Twp) – Today Phil Warren announced that he is stepping down as chair of the Evesham Township Democratic Committee to work as a field organizer for the Bloomberg for President campaign. Phil chaired the Evesham Democrats for the last six years, including the 2018 election victory that ended the longtime Republican rule of the Evesham Township council by electing Democratic Mayor Jaclyn Veasy, Deputy Mayor Heather Cooper and Councilwoman Patricia Hansen. Warren will continue to serve as a district Democratic committeeman. Christie DeCarolis, the current Vice-Chair, will serve as Acting Chair until the committee votes in June for his replacement.
“Phil led Evesham into a new era,” said Acting Chair Christie DeCarolis. “Under his leadership, Democrats elected the most diverse council in our history and ended the Republican reign. He rebuilt the party from the ground up and created a foundation for us to continue to elect great Democratic leaders down the ballot in 2020.”
“I am grateful to Phil for the incredible work he has done as chair of Evesham Democrats but I am also proud to call him a friend,” said Mayor Jackie Veasy. “He was instrumental in growing the Democratic Party in town and has left big shoes to fill. I am glad he isn’t going far and will continue his dedication to our party and our town. I am confident that Christie and the entire Evesham Democratic team will continue to grow the party and lead us to victory once again this November.”
“The Democratic Party has been an inclusive, dedicated organization under Phil’s leadership as Chair,” said Deputy Mayor Heather Cooper. “Phil has been with me through some of the hardest times in my life and been a friend and mentor. I am grateful for his time and dedication to the Democratic Party and to the Evesham Township community.”
“Phil has been a devoted leader for the Evesham Township Democratic team,” said Councilwoman Pat Hansen. “It was Phil who convinced me that sitting on the sidelines and hoping things get better is not an option. I am grateful for his guidance and hard work and glad he will continue as a part of our Democratic team.”
