PISCATAWAY TOWNSHIP TO JOIN CITIES NATIONWIDE FOR ‘AMERICA’S NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME’

On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, neighborhoods throughout Piscataway Township are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “39th Annual National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event.  National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Piscataway Township Police Department, with over 16,790 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.  In all, over 38 million people are expected to participate in ‘America’s Night Out Against Crime’.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Residents in neighborhoods throughout Piscataway Township and across the nation, are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.  Many neighborhoods throughout Piscataway Township will be hosting a variety of special events such as cookouts, and youth activities.

This is a night for America to stand together to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity.  National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build a safer nation.  On NNO, we invite neighborhoods nationwide to join us in ‘Giving Crime & Drug A Going Away Party’.

Scheduled events will begin at 5 p.m. and will end at 9 p.m. on August 2nd, at the Piscataway Community Center, located at 520 Hoes Lane, Piscataway.

We encourage residents, neighborhood watch groups, local businesses, community groups, etc. to get in touch with Detective Calvin Laughlin, Piscataway Township Police Department, Community Policing Division ~ NNO Chairman at (732) 562-2349 / claughlin@piscatawaynj.org .
