MEDIA ADVISORY: Plainfield Mayor Adrian Mapp and City Council Members to Break Ground on New Five-Story Mixed-Use Apartment Complex

What: Plainfield Mayor Adrian Mapp and members of the City Council will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 1000 North Avenue, a new five-story, market rate apartment complex that will include over 120 new apartments. 1000 North Avenue will be the second major luxury apartment building near the Netherwood Train Station, situated between South and North Avenues. The 1000 North Avenue project is a 120-unit market-rate development financed by an Opportunity Zone fund. This major economic development project totals $34.3 million in new investment as well as 150 temporary jobs, three full-time jobs, and eight part-time jobs. The developers, Mayor Mapp and his team, and the Governor’s Office worked together for over a year to champion the project and secure NJDEP approval. The ceremony will be attended by many state elected officials, with remarks by Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver. Thanks to Mayor Mapp’s leadership, Plainfield has over $1B of private investment in the pipeline representing 5000 residential units, more than 500,000 square feet of retail/commercial spaces, thousands of temporary construction jobs, and hundreds of permanent jobs.
