PLEDGING A POSITIVE CAMPAIGN, LD20 DEMOCRATS LAUNCH CAMPAIGN WEBSITE

“We have already received multiple reports of a campaign push poll called into people’s homes with Trump-like false accusations about our team.”

UNION – Senator Joe Cryan, Assemblywoman Annette Quijano and Reverend Reginald Atkins announced the official launch of their campaign website today.

The site can be found at www.district20democrats.com and is a centralized location for the candidates’ biographies and their accomplishments in service of their communities that will also provide additional insight into their vision in the legislature for Elizabeth, Union, Roselle and Hillside.

Cryan and Quijano are running for re-election in the State Senate and the State Assembly, respectively, while Reverend Atkins is running for the State Assembly position vacated by Jamel Holley.

The candidates released the following statement about the importance of the website and the need to disseminate accurate and up to date information in the midst of the ongoing global pandemic.

“One of the first things we realized at the onset of this horrific and unprecedented event was the importance of providing factual information as quickly as possible to help inform our constituents about the dangers of the virus and the steps they could take to protect themselves.  In the beginning we prioritized personal protective equipment for frontline workers and now we are focused on providing vaccinations for all who want them while we try and increase those numbers through the dissemination of facts provided by the scientific community.  Our website is an extension of those efforts that will also highlight the work we’ve done to fight for education aid, combat sexual harassment and abuse and make sure we continue to strive for social justice and racial equity in communities throughout the district and across the state.

Today we are also pledging to run a positive campaign that solely highlights our team’s accomplishments and talks about the future for district residents.  After the last four years of chaos unleashed on the nation by Donald Trump we believe that people want their elected officials to focus on safety during this ongoing pandemic, taxes and jobs and those are the things we have always worked hard to improve for everyone.  Unfortunately, in this race we have already received multiple reports of a campaign push poll called into people’s homes with Trump-like false accusations about our team and a complete disregard for any sense of decency.  We cannot speak for our opponents, but we promise you today that is not the direction our campaign will go.”
