Poll: Rob Menendez Leads Race for 8th Congressional District Primary

In a poll of registered Democrats in New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District, Rep. Rob Menendez holds a 46% to 24% lead over Ravi Bhalla, with 6% support for Kyle Jasey, and 4% for someone else. Voters overwhelmingly approve of the job Rob Menendez is doing in Congress by a 51% to 25% margin.

“Since day one, I have been focused on delivering results for the residents and families who call our district home,” said Rep. Rob Menendez. “I am thankful for their support and will continue to work every day for the people I have the honor of representing.”

The live telephone poll of registered Democrats in the 8th Congressional District was conducted in English and Spanish by TargetSmart, a Democratic polling firm. The poll was fielded January 25 to February 1, 2024 and had a sample size of 400 voters, with a margin of error of +/-4.9 percent.

“The conventional wisdom that Congressman Menendez faces an uphill battle as a consequence of the situation surrounding his father is misplaced based on the findings of this research,” said Ben Lazarus of Target Smart. “This poll shows that Congressman Menendez is a popular incumbent with a strong base of support, and he is the clear frontrunner to win the Democratic nomination in CD-8 come June.”
