Pou, Sweeney Honor the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey

Trenton – Chair of the Legislative Latino Caucus Senator Nellie Pou and Senate President Steve Sweeney recognized the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (SHCC-NJ) and their impact on New Jersey in light of Hispanic Heritage Month.

“Hispanic Heritage Month allows us to recognize the vast contributions from Hispanic and Latino Americans and gives us a time to celebrate our heritage and culture across the United States,” said Senator Pou (D-Bergen/Passaic). “The Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey has created innumerable opportunities for individuals from these communities to achieve the American Dream as successful business owners. For many consecutive years, the SHCC-NJ has been recognized by NJBIZ as one of the largest Chambers in the State, and were awarded the ‘Large Chamber of the Year’ by the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2017, for their rapid growth.

“SHCC-NJ’s impact on New Jersey is reflected by the $20 billion contribution to the state economy from the 119,000 Hispanic owned businesses utilizing their services, and I am proud to have the honor of recognizing their contributions in light of Hispanic Heritage Month.”

“This is the time to recognize the immeasurable impact of the Hispanic community. It is a community that helps our state and our country flourish and thrive,” said Senator Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland). “Small businesses are an essential component of a strong economy and the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey is dedicated to growing businesses in communities across the state. This resolution recognizes their hard work, dedication and the socioeconomic impact they have had on our business community and our state.”

SHCC-NJ received a resolution sponsored by Senators Pou, Ruiz and Cruz-Perez, Assemblywomen Chaparro, Jimenez and Pintor Marin, Assemblyman Mejia and Assemblywomen Mosquera and Quijano.
