PPDO Urges Residents to File Individual Complaints with NJBPU

Mayor and Council Act on PPDO Cablevision Concerns Initiative

PPDO Urges Residents to File Individual Complaints with NJBPU

In response to an outreach initiative by the Piscataway Progressive Democratic Organization (PPDO) led by Kamuela “Nikki” Tillman, the Mayor’s office and Council are following up with a meeting with Optimum/Altice. Tillman and other PPDO leaders collected complaints of over 500 residents through a petition she started on August 31 and forwarded to the NJ Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) on September 7. Ms. Tillman, who has served as a county committee member for Ward 3-2, along with Laura Leibowitz (3-10) and Staci Berger (3-2) met with representatives of the NJBPU on September 22. The BPU staff heard the complaints registered by Piscataway residents and indicated they would push for an explanation regarding the issues of frequent wireless outages, and weak signals. In an environment of extensive work and school from home activity, the need for strong and consistent internet signal is essential.

One suggestion from the NJBPU to frustrated Cablevision/Altice customers is for individuals to register their complaints through the NJBPU Website either online or by phone:

ONLINE: http://www.state.nj.us/bpu/assistance/complaints/inquiry.htm
PHONE: (800-624-0241) or (609)-341-9188).

Individual complaints will make for an effective campaign for change and will bring high level attention to the issue. Ms Tillman and the PPDO are pleased to see the Mayor and Council act so quickly on the resident-based initiative. We will continue to push for a resolution of this issue for the whole community.
