Prospect Park Fire Department Receives Lifesaving Equipment Thanks to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation

PROSPECT PARK, NJ – Thanks to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the Prospect Park Volunteer Fire Department is now better equipped to keep Prospect Park community safe. The Borough of Prospect Park recently received a $19,246.70 grant award from the Foundation to purchase four (4) Draeger Multi-Gas Meters, two (2) Argus Mi-TIC Thermal Imaging Cameras, and Accessories.

Thermal imaging cameras and CO (carbon monoxide) gas meters, among other accessories are essential for Prospect Park Volunteer Firefighters to perform their tasks safely and efficiently. Thermal imaging cameras will help detect body temperature and temperatures in the building, while making it easier for the firefighter to detect the location of the fire. CO gas meters detect oxygen levels and any other gasses in a building.

“As a former volunteer firefighter myself, I understand the value and impact first responders such as members of the Prospect Park Volunteer Fire Department have moving our tight-knit community forward,” said Prospect Park Mayor Mohamed T. Khairullah “Thanks to the overwhelming support provided by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation through a grant award of nearly $20,000, we can cost effectively acquire this lifesaving equipment for PPFD at ZERO cost to the taxpayer — all while striving to better protect our beautiful Borough,” Mayor Khairullah added.

“This is a monumental achievement for the Prospect Park Fire Department receiving this grant award,” Fire Chief Douglas Struyk stated. “It allows our members to move forward in protecting the lives and properties of our residents with the new lifesaving equipment we are about to receive and maintains our fiscal responsibility to the tax payers. For all those reasons and so much more, we cannot thank Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation enough for the belief and support they have shown for our department and community-at-large,” Struyk emphasized.

“I am beyond grateful for the Board of Directors of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and their approval of a grant for necessary equipment for the Prospect Park Fire Department,” Fire Safety Director Daniel Cabrera said. “The equipment will be of much benefit to our firefighters and the community we serve. This grant is welcomed with open arms at no cost to our taxpayers. It will assist the Department in ultimately improving the lifesaving capabilities of the community we serve. I urge everyone to support their local Firehouse Subs restaurant as much of the support for the Foundation comes from the brand and its guests. We are humbled to have been awarded this life changing grant for equipment. Firefighters are essential to the safety and security of our local communities,” Cabrera added.
