Assemblywoman Quijano’s Statement on Remarks Made About Puerto Rico During NYC Trump Rally
(TRENTON) – The following is a statement from Assemblywoman Annette Quijano:
“As a Puerto Rican Latina in leadership, I cannot stand idly by while racism and hate are allowed to fester in our society, as demonstrated by the recent Trump rally at Madison Square Garden in New York. The deliberate targeting of individuals based on their ethnicity is not just a disgrace; it is a direct assault on the values of respect and dignity that we must uphold.
Let me be clear: we will not tolerate acts of hatred and discrimination in our communities. It is infuriating to witness such blatant racism, and we must confront it head-on. It’s time for all of us—especially those in positions of power—to call out these acts for what they are: a cowardly attempt to divide us. As Latinas, we know the strength that comes from our roots and our culture. We must harness that strength to demand justice, not just for ourselves but for all marginalized communities. We cannot afford to be silent or complacent. Our voices must rise in unison against this intolerance. We are here, and we will fight back against this hate.” |
