RAHWAY COUNCILMAN BOB BRESENHAN TO LEAD SENIOR RALLY AT ROSEGATE/CIS, INC. AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMPLEX
RAHWAY- Rahway Councilman Bob Bresenhan will be leading a rally of senior citizens, clergy and other activists and public officials on Saturday, October 14 at 10:00 am to call on Rosegate affordable housing complex owner Community Investment Strategies, Inc. (CIS, Inc.) and CEO Christiana Foglio Palmer to cancel a requested 5% rent increase and improve tenant services.
CIS Inc. is one of the largest affordable housing developers and landlords in the state of New Jersey with more than 30 housing complexes in their portfolio. Although CIS Inc. claims on their website “to improve the lives of our residents and the neighborhoods in which they live, work, and play,” many Rosegate residents see this as hypocritical and not what they experience as day to day residents. Rosegate residents claim that services are lacking and most maintenance issues and requests go unanswered by Rosegate staff all at a time when CIS, Inc. and Ms. Foglio Palmer are requesting the NJHMFA to grant a 5% rent increase, well above the approximate 1% CPI (Consumer Price Index).
Bresenhan has promised to “rally at Rosegate Rahway each and every Saturday to secure a commitment from CIS, Inc., Ms. Foglio Palmer and Rosegate to address the proposed 5% rent increase and provide satisfactory services to their tenant community in Rahway.”
