RaiseNJ Activists to Convene in Trenton to Lobby Legislators in Support of a $15 Minimum Wage for All Workers

TRENTON- Today, Monday, December 17th, activists, community organizations, faith leaders, and workers will gather at the statehouse to lobby their legislators in support of a $15 minimum wage bill for all workers.

Advocates seek to advocate for an inclusive minimum wage bill, after Assembly released their proposal  that raises workers to $15, but exempts teen workers, farmworkers, tipped workers, seasonal workers and employees of small businesses until 2029. According to New Jersey Policy Perspective, these exclusions will impact more than one-third of the state’s lowest paid workers.

In a state where nearly 40% of households struggle to afford basic needs, according to the United Way for New Jersey ALICE Report, advocates will urge their legislators to raise the minimum wage and provide economic security to poor and middle class working families.
