Todd Smith, a Business Consultant with the New Jersey Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Bergen County, has been selected to receive the prestigious 2021 Leaders in Finance Award by NJBIZ Magazine. The SBDC is hosted at Ramapo College of New Jersey.

The Leaders in Finance awards program celebrates New Jersey’s financial executives at all levels who contribute to the success of their companies as well as their community. Honorees will be recognized at a special state-wide virtual ceremony on March 25, 2021.

The New Jersey Small Business Development Center at Ramapo College is a federal-state-education partnership, primarily funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, that provides no-cost business management counseling and information services to small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Todd Smith has distinguished himself in the SBDC through his work within the center’s Economic Recovery Task Force Initiative. The Initiative has aimed to connect student volunteers with the center’s professional business management consultants in order to deliver comprehensive services to small businesses negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Lumana Shakya, a senior international student interning with the SBDC, said, “I am delighted to learn that Mr. Smith has been chosen to receive this recognition. Mr. Smith’s contribution to the upliftment of small businesses is inspirational. Working as an intern under him, I’ve had the privilege to witness his unmatched dedication and persistence towards his work. He has led our consultant-student team to counsel small businesses through the hardships of the pandemic while working to provide students like me with a valuable educational experience.”

In reflection of Todd Smith’s earning of the award, SBDC Regional Director Vincent Vicari noted “I couldn’t be prouder of Todd Smith on being selected for a 2021 NJBIZ Leaders in Finance Award. Todd Smith is the owner of Royce Joseph Capital LLC, a company that works to facilitate the placement and packaging of loans for businesses. He is also the author of several books on finance and previously served on the Board of Directors of Community Hope, New Jersey’s largest nonprofit that works to address the homeless veteran crisis.
