Red Bank Democrats Recognize Five Members 

Red Bank Blue Awards Presented

 

The Red Bank Democratic Organization held a recognition ceremony on Sunday, May 23rd at home of former Mayor Edward J. McKenna, Jr.

 

The event recognized five members of the organization for their contributions and service to the community and party.

 

The Red Bank Blue Awards this year included awards named for prominent, local leader, the late R. Odell Wilson, a former River Street resident and long time county committeeman. The Odell Wilson Newcomer Award was presented to John Jackson and Dionne Trottie Register.

 

An award for community service was named after the late President John F. Kennedy. The JFK Valor Award for Community Service was presented to Councilman Michael Ballard and Rose Sesito. The late President Kennedy’s birthday is May 29th.

 

Miriam McManus received the Katherine Elkus White Ambassador Award for her over 30 years of dedication and contributions to the Red Bank Democratic Organization. The award was dedicated to Red Bank’s only female mayor who became chair of the NJ Highway Authority in the 1950s and later became Ambassador to Denmark under President Lyndon Baines Johnson in the 1960s.

 

The ceremony was presided over by Chairman Ed Zipprich and Vice Chairwoman Lauren Nicosia.
