RELEASE: Gottheimer Opposes Graham-Cassidy Repeal, Urges Bipartisan Approach

GLEN ROCK, N.J. – Today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement in opposition of the Graham-Cassidy repeal efforts in the Senate.

“The American people deserve a bipartisan approach to fix our health care system, stabilize the individual marketplace and prevent premiums from rising. Instead of moving forward with a polarized process in the Senate, I urge both Democrats and Republicans to take up a bipartisan health care plan. Working together and allowing for input from both sides of the aisle isn’t easy, but it is the only way to solve the most urgent problems facing the American people.”

The Graham-Cassidy plan is a bad deal for New Jersey families and seniors. While we don’t have a full CBO score, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, the cuts to New Jersey would be significant. Like the other one sided, extreme plans, it would result in thousands of dollars in added taxes for every New Jersey family, throw seniors out of their nursing homes, cut coverage for pre-existing conditions, and increase out-of-pocket costs for consumers.
