RELEASE: GOTTHEIMER RELEASES NEW AD HIGHLIGHTING WIN FOR JERSEY FAMILIES ON CONGESTION TAX

Gottheimer Led 5-Year Fight to Defeat Congestion Tax

Will Save Hardworking Jersey Families Thousands a Year

WYCKOFF, NJ — Today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer launched a new ad highlighting his work over the last five years to defeat the outrageous, commuter-crushing Congestion Tax. The ad features Rep. Gottheimer and the work he has done to block the Congestion Tax, which would have raised prices and increased pollution for hardworking Jersey families.

The Congestion Tax would have cost hardworking Jersey families, including nurses, teachers, and electricians, $15 dollars a day minimum, or $4,000 a year, not including current tolls, parking and gas. It would also have increased cancer-causing pollution in Northern Jersey and the outer boroughs.

New Jersey wouldn’t have received a nickel from the Congestion Tax — every penny would have been poured into the bottomless, mismanaged MTA pit.
