Rep. Linda Sanchez to Campaign for Tom Malinowski

(Bridgewater, NJ) Linda Sanchez, Representative for California’s 38th Congressional District and Vice Chair of the House Democratic Conference, will be in the district Tuesday, Aug. 21 to campaign with NJ07 Democratic Nominee Tom Malinowski.

A former labor attorney, Rep. Sanchez led the fight to reverse the Bush Administration’s suspension of the Davis-Bacon Act in 2005. Davis-Bacon is the law that requires government contractors to pay prevailing wages to their employees and serves as a bedrock in the fight for fair wages.

“I’m thrilled to have Rep. Sanchez join us in our district, and look forward to working together with her to protect and strengthen workers rights here in New Jersey and around the country,” said Malinowski. “The Trump Administration is at war with America’s workers, and the Republican Congress is doing nothing to fight back. It’s time to bring representation to Congress that champions our workers and middle class.”

Tom and the Congresswoman will host a labor lunch to discuss opportunities to strengthen the labor movement at this critical time.  The lunch will host representatives from the NJ AFL-CIO, CWA, Middlesex and Somerset County Central Labor Council, UWUA, SEIU, International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, Northwest Jersey Central Labor Council, AFT, and others.

Rep. Leonard Lance holds a 39% rating from AFL-CIO and voted against provisions that would have prevented the federal government from entering into contracts with companies that repeatedly violate the national Fair Labor Standards Act.

Tom is the former Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. He oversaw the U.S. State Department’s Office of International Labor Affairs during the Obama Administration, serving as the chief advocate for worker protections in our international trade agreements and providing support to trade union activists around the world.
