Rep. Norcross Reflects on President Biden’s Legacy and Historic Accomplishments for South Jersey

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Representative Donald Norcross (NJ-01) released a statement on President Biden’s legacy and historic accomplishments for South Jersey.

“President Biden served our country with honor for 50 years. I am proud to have had the opportunity to work closely with him to deliver for the American people. His steadfast bipartisan leadership and love of country have propelled our nation forward.  When President Biden was sworn into office, the nation faced immense challenges: a global pandemic, children learning over Zoom, high unemployment, and a damaged supply chain disrupting daily life.

“The country needed strong leadership, and President Biden responded by working with Congress to pass historic investments that lowered prescription drug costs, strengthened America’s supply chain, revitalized domestic manufacturing, expanded veterans’ access to health care, implemented crucial gun safety measures, and rebuilt our crumbling infrastructure. His actions showed that when we invest in America, we invest in our workers.

“President Biden and his Administration were the most pro-worker Administration in our lifetime. Under his leadership, we passed the Butch Lewis Act that saved pensions for millions of workers, allowing them to retire with dignity. He created over 16 million jobs and became the first sitting President to walk a strike picket line. His Administration updated the Davis-Bacon Act’s prevailing wage rules for the first time in 40 years which secured better pay for over one million construction workers.

“On Monday, President Biden will do what we as Americans once took for granted and uphold the peaceful transfer of power. Today, I want to thank him for his decades of service and for being a President who protected democracy and represented the best of America. He leaves behind a legacy of putting American workers first, supporting the labor movement, investing in our infrastructure, and creating opportunities that will benefit South Jersey and the entire nation for generations to come.”
