Rep. Norcross Releases Statement on H.R. 30 Vote

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Representative Donald Norcross (NJ-01) released a statement on the H.R. 30 vote.

“No one condones domestic violence or sexual assault. People who commit these heinous crimes have no place in our society, and that’s why they are already subject to incarceration and deportation.

“If H.R. 30 becomes law, it could have a detrimental impact on domestic violence survivors while pretending to protect them. Over 200 national domestic violence prevention organizations oppose this legislation because of the fear that H.R. 30 will result in the deportation of victims who have U.S. legal protected status.

“I believe that we need to take action to develop comprehensive immigration reform, but not at the expense of those who have U.S. legal protected status. I stand ready to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to repair our broken immigration system.”
