Rep. Pascrell on ACA Repeal: ‘Astonishing Dishonesty’

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. (NJ-09) issued the following statement on repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

“With astonishing dishonesty, House Republicans have forever signed their name to legislation that does, indeed, remove protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions. Their legislation also guts essential health benefits, allowing insurers to offer bare-bones plans that don’t provide meaningful care,” said Rep. Pascrell. “This bill jeopardizes ACA protection for the 150 million Americans with employer coverage with a ban on annual and lifetime caps. It takes a lot of chutzpah to make the centerpiece of your bill a trillion-dollar cut in health benefits to fund a tax cut for the rich. The amendments are nothing more than $8 million fig leaves covering up cuts of more than $800 billion dollars from Medicaid and loss of insurance for tens of millions of Americans.”
