Rep. Pascrell Statement on September Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, released the following statement after the Department of Labor announced that the economy lost 33,000 jobs in September:
“Today’s jobs number represents another broken promise from the Trump Administration. The recent disasters have shown that President Trump has failed to deliver tangible improvements to strengthen our economy. Instead of continuing the progress on jobs and wages, Trump Administration is too busy stoking uncertainty in the economy by undoing gains in health care, making wild statements on trade and foreign policy, and revoking civil rights.
“The Congress needs to do its part by crafting a bipartisan tax plan that isn’t just a giveaway to the top. President Trump should concentrate on enacting policies that strengthen wage growth, advance a robust and bipartisan infrastructure package, and provide the disaster assistance needed to get regional economies back on track. I want to see progress in our manufacturing sector and trade pacts that work in service of American workers.”
