Rep. Sherrill Applauds Confirmation of Shirley U. Emehelu as Executive Assistant Attorney General 

Parsippany, NJ – Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) issued the following statement on the confirmation of Shirley U. Emehelu on Acting Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin’s leadership team: 

“Shirley Emehelu’s legal career is a testament to her lifelong commitment to public service. It is critical that we have someone of her character, leadership, and integrity at such a high level at the Attorney General’s Office here in New Jersey, especially in a time when constitutional rights and judicial precedent are under attack. During my time as a federal prosecutor, I worked closely with Shirley and saw firsthand her talent and success in implementing innovative reforms in the criminal legal system that protect and improve safety in our state.

“I am thrilled that she’s continuing her public service as the Executive Assistant Attorney General on the Acting Attorney General’s leadership team and am excited to work with her again in ensuring public safety is upheld in our neighborhoods.”
