“New Jersey was hit hard and early by COVID-19 and it was hospitals like Morristown Medical that were on the frontlines during our darkest times. This federal Community Project funding will support Morristown Medical Center’s renovation and expansion of their Emergency Department, which will include improvements to patient monitoring technology.” said Rep Sherrill. “Thank you to Trish O’Keefe, Brian Gragnolati, Mayor Tim Dougherty, and the entire team at Atlantic Health and Morristown Medical Center for your advocacy. I’m proud to bring our hard earned tax dollars back to support their mission to provide high quality care.”

“Thanks to the incredible support provided by elected leaders like Rep. Mikie Sherrill, the technological and physical advancements to our Level 1 ACS Trauma Center will help ensure we are better able to continue caring for our entire community for years to come” said Trish O’Keefe, PHD, RN, President, Morristown Medical Center and Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive, Atlantic Health System.

The Emergency Department at Morristown Medical Center is a vital lifeline to thousands of patients and families throughout the region. This Community Project funding will be used to modernize the hospital’s triage space, including replacing existing patient monitors, increasing monitoring capability in the hallway areas of the Red Zone, and constructing negative pressure rooms to mitigate the spread of airborne pathogens.
