Rep. Sherrill to be joined by April Morgan at the State of the Union

Parsippany, NJ — Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) will be joined at the State of the Union Address tomorrow by April Morgan, mother of fallen West Point Cadet Christopher “CJ” Morgan. CJ died tragically in June 2019 during a training exercise at the U.S. Military Academy.

“CJ represented the best and brightest of our country, and lived a life dedicated to serving others,” said Representative Sherrill. “Our entire community grieves with the Morgan family, and I’m honored to have April Morgan join me at the State of the Union as a small gesture of our support and to lift up the memory of CJ.”

CJ Morgan graduated from West Orange High School and was a member of the class of 2020 at West Point. He was a standout wrestler, and last Friday a special match between Lehigh and Army took place in West Orange dedicated to CJ and his family. The Morgan Family established the Christopher “CJ” Morgan Memorial Foundation and scholarship fund to keep CJ’s vision alive and make a difference in other students’ lives.
