Rep. Sherrill: “TikTok CEO’s answers were insufficient and troubling” 

Washington, DC— Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), a member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the US and Chinese Communist Party, released the following statement after today’s testimony by TikTok CEO Shou Chew in front of the House Energy and Commerce Committee:

“The Select Committee has been strongly engaged on the threat of TikTok to our democracy and we will be following up on these concerns given the new information laid out during today’s Energy and Commerce Committee hearing. TikTok’s CEO gave insufficient and troubling answers to the Committee that raise significant questions about the CCP’s involvement in manipulating Americans. This hearing has reiterated that TikTok does not represent American values and instead poses a major threat to our national security. The Select Committee will continue to demand the truth from TikTok and protect Americans’ freedoms from autocratic governments.”
